Humbird (5 April 1973)

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett spent Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice.

Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice called Friday evening at the Ed Tande home by the Mound View area.

Monday morning, and what to my wondering eyes should appear, snowflakes, small, medium and large, some as big as a dollar. Anyway, April showers make the air cleaner for us.

Carl Greub of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ziegler of Willard, and Mrs. and Mrs. John Greub spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Herb Green in Eau Claire.

Mrs. Johanna Olson is spending several days with her granddaughter, Mrs. Allen Zimmerman, in Fairchild.

Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stanley and Mrs. Emma Gerber drove to Eau Claire Sunday to take Miss Gail Ness home. She spent a week here with her aunt Mrs. Emma Gerber. Other guests Sunday at the Ness home were Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Schmidt of Cadott.

Virgil Deuk of Decorah, Ia., district manager of a seven-county district in Iowa for a farm machinery company, won a sales contest trip to Spain for himself and his wife. Mr. and Mrs. Deuk left Friday by plane for Madrid, Spain, and expect to come home Wednesday. One of the highlights to which Mr. Deuk looks forward to is the famous bull fights, for which Madrid is noted. Mrs. Deuk is the former Geraldine Smith, daughter of Mrs. Edith Smith, and formerly lived here.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe drove to Neillsville Friday afternoon to see his sister, Mrs. Mary Iffland, and then to Loyal to spend the evening and have supper with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Losey of Fairchild and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Stuve visited Sunday afternoon at the Melvin Markham home.
