Joe Zimmerman was at Eau Claire Tuesday on business.

Mrs. George Bever was here from Granton on Tuesday.

Miss Evelyn Hanson has been visiting relatives at La Crosse.

Lieut. Wm. Jacques is home from Chillicothe, Ohio, for a short furlough.

Miss Julia Walters went to Wausau Tuesday to spend a few days with friends.

Misses Laura and Clara North returned Monday from a brief visit at Montello.

Mrs. Wm. Hoover of Superior is visiting her mother, Mrs. Schwentkofske.

Jos. Ludwig of Harper, Iowa, is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Stolte.

Five young men were here from Chili Monday night and enlisted in the Home Guards.

Mrs. F.G. Kircherer went to Duluth yesterday to spend a short time with her daughter there.

Mrs. Minnie Angel of town Fremont died on  June 23rd and the funeral was held at Chili yesterday.

Mrs. St. Clair and son of Baraboo came Tuesday for a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Donahue.

Mrs. Addie Merrill and daughter returned home to Bearsford, S.D., Tuesday after a short visit with friends here.

Fred Puttkammer unloaded a car of those fine Green Mountain silos which he had sold during the past couple months.

The W.R.C. met with Mrs., Clara Kapka on Thursday and in addition to making comfort kits, they enjoyed a picnic dinner and spent a very pleasant afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Linus Prock and little daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Linster and Joe Schwellenbach drove to Tomah the first of the week to attend the funeral of relative.

Geo. Hetzel was arrested on Thursday, charged with prowling about residences on the north side and looking into the windows during the nighttime. He was fined $50 and costs and was farmed out to work out his fine.

Clinton Carter left last week for Vancouver, Washington, having enlisted in the forestry corps. Mr. and Mrs. Carter now have two stars on the service flag, their son, Burr, having been in the service of Uncle Sam for some months.

Mrs. H.M. Root came home from Milwaukee Tuesday, bringing her nieces, Mary and Blanche Huntzicker, with her to spend a short time at the Root and Mrs. Ring homes.
