Flaa, Janis C. (4 NOV 1967)

The marriage vows of Janis Claire Flaa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Flaa, Boyd, Minn., and Joseph Leon Szczech, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Szczech Sr., Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis., were exchanged at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd at three o'clock Saturday, afternoon, Nov. 4, 1967. Rev. William Loughmiller officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The bride wore a satin faced A-line gown with a bodice of Alencon lace with short flared sleeves. She carried a bouquet of white roses.

Maid of Honor was Ethel Flaa, sister of the bride, Minneapolis, Minn. Mary Flaa, Boyd, Minn., LaVonne, Messerschmidt, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Loren Luschen, Roseau, Minn., were bridesmaids. They wore matching floor length empire waist gowns of burnt orange saki. They carried bronze and yellow mums.

Ray Almberg, Minneapolis, Minn., was best man. Groomsmen were Ted Hoffman, Wausau, Wis., Gary Flaa, Glencoe, Minn., and Tom Hoffman, Thorp, Wis.

Pre-nuptial music was played by Miss Helen Krogstad at the organ. Vernon Stevens sang two solos, "The Wedding Benediction" and "The Lord's Prayer."

Ushers were Don Andruskiewicz, St. Louis Park, Minn., and John Flaa, Boyd, Minn.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors. Mr. and Mrs. Milford Flaa of Boyd, Minn. served as dining room host and hostess. Jean Flaa, Minneapolis, Minn., was at the guest book. Mrs. Ron Snyder, Boyd, Minn., and Linda Sumner, Willmar, Minn., poured punch. Mrs. Jerry Micke, Thorp, Wis., and Mrs. Don Andruskiewicz, St. Louis Park, Minn., were at the gift table.

Mrs. Irving Flaa, Dawson, Minn. and Mrs. Virgil Winslow, Boy, Minn., poured coffee. Mrs. Frank Kotecki, Altoona, Wis. and Mrs. William Boh Jr., Marshfield, Wis., cut the cake. Waitresses were Kathy Sumner and Bev Lundy, Boyd, Minn., with Marsha and Gail Winslow at the head table, also of Boyd.

The couple is at home in Hopkins, Minn.
