Furger, Marie E. (Imhoff) (13 JUL 1917 - 1 DEC 2014)

Marie E. Furger, 97, Marathon, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.

She was born July 13, 1917, in the town of Emmet, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Karlen) Imhoff. On Oct. 6, 1937, she married Henry Furger at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1999.

The couple farmed in the town of Emmet prior to moving to Marathon in 1973. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling and was a member of the P.C.C.W. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.

Survivors include her children, Virjean (Robert) Knauf, Marathon, Mary (Mark) Hermes, Rib Mountain, LaVern (Mary Jane) Furger, Ralph (Pat) Furger, Norm (Sally) Furger and Randy (Cindy) Furger, all of Marathon; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Agnes and Sara Kraimer, Helen Osterbrink, Louis, Joseph, Robert, Edward and Alex Imhoff.

The funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 6 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, assisted the family with arrangements.
