A crowd of 550 people attended the “Grand Opening” of Greenwood’s new Ritz Theater last Friday night. A large group of curious and interested spectators had already gathered at 6:30 when the doors opened and it increased steadily until every seat had filled.

The “First Nighters” were presented with an American Beauty rose as they entered the theater, and from then on everyone was happily surprised at the beauty and modernness of the new “Ritz.”

The lobby had seven large baskets of beautiful congratulations bouquets, presented by the Rotary Club, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klancher, Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Paprocki, The National Theater Co., Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Klune and the Greenwood Businessmen.

A big point of interest was the spacious and comfortable “Cry Room,” provided for parents with small children. The large glassed window in front provides an excellent view of the screen and the “sound equipment” makes for perfect reception.

Many favorable comments were heard on the large and comfortable seats with adequate leg space. The new “staggered” arrangement of the seats gives you the best possible view of the screen when sitting in any part of the theater.

Before the opening feature, short talks were presented by Dr. R.L. Barnes, who also introduced Mr. Brzezinski to those present, Elmer Johnson and Joe Klune. They expressed appreciation of our new theater and what it means to the City of Greenwood to be able to have it.

Mr. and Mrs. Brzezinski wish to present their thanks to everyone and to say they are well pleased with all the kindness and consideration shown them by the Greenwood people.
