Janke, Leo E. (26 March 1921 - 6 December 2014)

Leo E. Janke, 93, of Eau Claire, (formerly of Humbird) passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at his home. Leo was born March 26, 1921, to the late Ludwig and Annie (Dettinger) Janke in Garden Valley Township in Jackson County, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Lightfoot June 6, 1946. Leo was a hard working dairy farmer for many years, a loving husband and respected father. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his children, Rick (Lou Ann) Janke, Peggy (Orland) Staves, David (Liz) Janke and Harry (Louise) Janke; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many other family members and friends.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis and a brother, Richard.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jean Anderson, the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice team, especially Judy Lust and Marne Buckley, for their extraordinary, loving care.

The family will be celebrating his life Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oakwood Homes Community Room (3802 Damon Street Eau Claire).

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dc. 11, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church in Alma Center with the Reverend Steve Rutter officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
