Washburn (18 Jul 1918)

Mary McPherson is on the gain.

Ella Hagie has been visiting the home folks.

Floyd Hagie left Tuesday in answer to his country’s call. He went to Valparizo, Ind., to take up mechanic work. We wish him success.

The Ladies Aid was well attended last week at Andrew Short’s, over $6.00 being taken in at dinner. They will meet with Mrs. Irish next month.

There ought to be a toll bridge between here and the blueberry patch for the benefit of Uncle Sam and if the berries lasted much longer, they would make enough to build a battleship or something of that sort.

There will be Sunday School at 2 o’clock next Sunday.

Arthur Short has a truck and is hauling the milk from here to Neillsville.

Miss Slocomb will teach the Shortville school again next year.
