Lloyd Myron Zimmerman was born on Nov. 14, 1928, in the town of Berlin, Marathon County, the son of Elmer and Lora (nee Klebnow) Zimmerman. Lloyd's family moved to Loyal when he was two years old. Lloyd attended a rural school through eighth grade and then graduated from Loyal High School in 1946. He then worked as a mechanic for Braun Ford in Loyal. Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 5th Division from 1950-52 during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at the Tulle Air Force Base in Greenland during that time, working in motor patrol maintenance. Returning from military service, Lloyd worked for the Lakeshire Cheese Plant, Northside Elevator, Stock Chevrolet, and Bertz Logging, all in Loyal. On Oct. 2, 1954, Lloyd and Delores Duncan were married at English Salem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minn. They had three children -- Sandra (Roger) Gresh, Britton, S.D.; Brad (Jamie) Zimmerman, Hayward; and Greg (Kristi) Zimmerman, Hillsboro.

In November 1967, Lloyd and his family moved to Neillsville, where he started a career as a sales representative for the Equitable Life Insurance Company. In 1990, Lloyd retired at the age of 62 from selling insurance and then went on to work for the next 15 years as a greens keeper at the Neillsville Country Club. He loved maintaining the greens and fairways on the golf course. Lloyd loved to spend time with his family and friends. He played city league basketball and baseball, bowled, and golfed. Lloyd thoroughly enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in sports events and concerts and was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Lloyd is survived by eight grandchildren, Angela (Gresh) Hawkinson, Randy Gresh, Joshua Zimmerman, Ethan Zimmerman, Garrett Zimmerman, Gavin Zimmerman, Marlina Zimmerman and Jade Zimmerman; four great-grandchildren, Bryce Hawkinson, Gabriela Hawkinson, Colin Gresh and Corbin Gresh; and a soon to be fifth great-grandchild, Aubrey Mae Zimmerman.

Lloyd was predeceased by five brothers, Wilbert, Lavern, Elroy, Franklin and Rueben.
