Rutan, John W. "Bill" (12 OCT 1940 - 4 MAR 2015)

John W. "Bill" Rutan, age 74, of Stetsonville, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Colonial Center in Colby under the tender care of hospice. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 AM until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

John was born October 12, 1940, the son of George and Florence (Hemminger) Rutan in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended Abbotsford Area Schools. John was united in marriage to Janice Nehrlich on September 2, 1961 in Abbotsford. They later divorced. He worked as a security guard for Pinkerton in Marshfield and volunteered with the Stetsonville Volunteer Fire Company.

John enjoyed bowling, throwing horseshoes, rock hunting, gardening, hunting and fishing salmon on the great lakes. He also loved to teach about blueberries, grapes, apples and was an avid mushroom hunter.

John is survived by his two children: Karla (Kevin) James of Dayton, Ohio and Michael Rutan of Roberts; two grandchildren: Ashley Wilson of Hawaii and Brandon Conwell stationed in South Carolina. He is further survived by two sisters: Sandy (Tom) Weiss of Arizona and Lorraine (Phil) Marine of Janesville; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
