Schmitt, Ann Marie (2 October 1959 - 5 March 2015)

Ann M. Schmitt, 55, of Granton died Thursday March 5, 2015, at her home.

Ann Marie Whiteside was born Oct. 2, 1959, in Eau Claire, the daughter of Roy and Frances (Meyer) Whiteside. She attended Regis High School. She was united in marriage to David Schmitt May 6, 1978. Ann raised her family and worked at the Neillsville Foundry and then at Dairy Concepts in Loyal for many years. Ann loved gardening and flowers, traveling and NASCAR, camping, taking care of her fish pond and just generally loved to have fun.

Ann is survived by her husband, David; two sons, Mathew Schmitt of Chili, and Joshua Schmitt of Missoula, MT; a granddaughter, Abigail; sisters, Connie (Don) Holden of Menomonie, Roylene (Craig) Garrett of Madison, Suan (Don) Anderson o Thorp and Ruthann (Joe) Tarbox of Chippewa Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Jeanette Geist of Boyd; brothers-in-law, Dan (Pam) Schmitt of Chippewa Falls, Steve (Tammy) Schmitt of Cadott, Kevin (Brenda) Schmitt of Chili and Jamie (Tina) Schmitt of Chippewa Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeremy; a sister, Betty Whiteside; her father-in-law, Sylvester Schmitt; and step-father-in-law, Tony Geist.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. Rev. Varkey V. Joseph will officiate. Providing music will be St. Mary’s Choir and Ronald Resong, organist. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and will be held again from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning before the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Neillsville.
