Borchardt, Janet Mary (1 SEP 1965)

Married at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 1965, by Rev. Edward J. Thome in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Stratford, were Miss Janet Mary Borchardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Borchardt, route 1, Edgar, and Arnell Canaday, son of Mr. And Mrs. Willie Canaday of Zephyr Hills, Fla.

Mr. Borchardt presented his daughter in marriage. Miss Florence Kaiser played the organ and the men’s choir sang. White and coral colored gladioli, intermixed with greenery, adorned the church altar.

A traditional bridal gown with full chapel train and made of white nylon organza over white faille taffeta was chosen by the bride. The molded bodice was styled with modified scoop neckline trimmed with sequin and seed pearl embroidered Alencon lace motifs, similar motifs also embellishing the midriff. The controlled bell skirt was pleated softly at the sides and was also appliqued with beaded Alencon lace motifs. The full train was set off with a flat bow at the back waistline.

Her bouffant nylon illusion veil was secured to an organza rolled petal cap trimmed with lace appliqued embroidery highlighted with seed pearls, with pearl tipped stems trimming the cap.

She carried a cascade arrangement of white Fuji mums interspersed with white roses and edged with salad leaves.

Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Helmke of Sun Prairie were the best man and matron of honor, respectively. Miss Judy Borchardt, route 1, Edgar, and Mrs. Marvin Reimer, Stetsonville, were bridesmaids; John Borchardt, route 1, Edgar, and Marvin Reimer, Stetsonville, the groomsmen; and Ed Lehnen, Owen, and Richard Fitzpatrick, La Cross, served as ushers.

The bridal aides were seen in floor length empire gowns of coral crepe enhanced with velversay flower petals on the bodices, which had scoop necklines. They wore matching coral floral velversay petal headpieces with bouffant veils and carried crescent bouquets of white pompons tied with white satin ribbon on a background of salad leaves.

The wedding reception took place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at Trianon Ballroom, Athens Corners. The newlyweds are residing in Manitowoc.

The bride, who was employed at the Owen Beauty Shop, attended Stratford High School.

The bridegroom, who attended Zephyr Hill High School, works as a telephone equipment installer with Automatic Electric Co.
