Maier, Norman Raymond (23 February 1928 - 5 April 2015) With Flag

Norman (‘Mr. Cheze’) Raymond Maier died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Brookfield, Wisconsin on April 5, 2015, at the age of 87.

Norm is survived by his wife, Mary Maier; his children: Susan (John) Friedmann and Sharon (Ronald) Powell; granddaughter, Nicole (Mike Phillips) Christman; and grandsons: Ian Powell and Sean Powell. He is further survived by brothers: Jack Maier and Ken Maier.

He is preceded in death by parents: John and Helen Maier; brothers: Ed Maier, Jerry Maier, and Leonard Maier; and sisters: Mercedes Borton and Marge Sonnentag.

Norm was born on February 23, 1928, in Thorp, Wisconsin, to John and Helen Maier. He graduated from Thorp High School and then from the college of Ag and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin. He married his college sweetheart, Mary Lee, in 1954. Norm was a member of the Army Air Corp in 1946, and then was an inaugural member of the Air Force for the Korean War.

Norm gook great pride in his 57-year membership in Toastmasters International; he was a founding member of several clubs, district Governor, and past International Director. His passion for the dairy state led him to own the Wisconsin Championship Cheese for 26 years.

The visitation was at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 W. Capital Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015. The funeral service was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. John Vianney, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment followed at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Toastmasters International at
