Kalis, Troy James (9 August 1956 - 24 April 2015)

Troy James Kalis, age 58, of Wells, MN, died Friday, April 24, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Easton, MN. Visitation was Monday, April 27, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continued one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment was at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, rural Easton. Father Thomas Niehaus officiated. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Wells was in charge of arrangements. Troy was born August 9, 1956, in Wells, MN, the son of Ray and Lois (Stevermer) Kalis. He attended grade school at Our lady of Mount Carmel in Easton, and graduated from Wells-Easton High School in 1974. He married Sue Pogodzinski on October 27, 1989. Troy worked at Interstate Construction for several years after high school. After that, he was employed by Easton Farmers Elevator, Grainland Co-op and WFS. Troy was proud to serve on the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, and retired as a Captain, after 34 years of service.

Troy is survived by his wife, Sue Kalis, of Wells, MN; sons: Emerson (Jayne) Kalis of Blue Earth, M N, Arron Kalis of Easton, MN; granddaughters: Haley and Gloria; parents: Ray and Lois Kalis; siblings: Linda (Denny) Johnson, Paul (Kathy) Kalis, Charlie (Peggy) Kalis, Joline Pearson (Mike Sandt), Marc (Kari) Kalis; many in- laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Andy Kalis; brother-in-law, Kurt Pearson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stanley and Mary Pogodzinski.
