Kaufman, Merline G. (19 March 1934 - 22 April 2015)

Merline G. (Naedler) Kaufman, 81, of new Auburn passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the home of her son, Dan (Tammy) Peacock, while under the care of Lakeview Medical Center Hospice program.

Merline was born March 19, 1934, in Neillsville to hazel (Acheson) and Hilbert Naedler. She was raised in Neillsville on the family farm where she also attended School. Merline graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1952 and then attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for one year.

Dec. 26, 1953, she married Donald Peacock and became a military wife living in different states, and together they had two sons, Dan and Tom. They later divorced. She married John F. Kaufman Aug. 17, 1963, in Waukegan, IL. They resided in Rib Falls where they bought Johnny’s Beer Bar, which eventually became Kaufman’s Bar for many years. Together they had one son, Brad. Merline also worked in Milwaukee at AC Supply as a bookkeeper and Wausau Homes as a bookkeeper.

Merline enjoyed playing cards, traveling in her younger years, attending Sheepshead tournaments and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her sons: Dan (Tammy) Peacock of New Auburn, Tom (Kim) Peacock of Janesville, and Brad (Kathy) Kaufman of Greendale; her sister, Fern (Cal) Swenson, and her brother, Alan (Darla) Naedler, both of Neillsville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John.

A graveside service was held Monday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery in Fairchild, with a luncheon following.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeview Medical Center Hospice Team, Rice Lake, in memory of Merline.
