Ervin Kurth spent Sunday at Eau Claire.

James Wilson was here from Humbird on Saturday.

Miss Marjorie Jacques returned to her work teaching in Milwaukee Normal on Saturday.

A.O. Rhea of Thorp spent a few days here last week.

Carl Walk returned last week from a trip to Chicago.

Mrs. John Howard returned home to St. Paul on Saturday.

Joe Cannon was here from Merrillan Saturday on business.

C. Krumrey went to La Crosse on Monday on a business trip.

W.D. Martin left Monday for a visit with his father in Iowa.

Mrs. C.C. Cheadle went to Oxford Monday to spend a short time.

Leo Schroeder was up from Reedsburg last week to attend the fair.

Miss Frieda Radke went to her school work at Whitehall on Friday.

Will Meyer came home from St. Paul last week to spend a few days.

Mrs. Kolar left Saturday for Seattle where she expects to spend some time.

John Cook is home from LaCrescent, Minn., where he spent a couple of weeks.

Miss Leona Albright has gone to New London where she will teach this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Burton Wells came home Friday from a few days visit at La Crosse.

Miss Nellie Lezotte went to Merrillan Saturday to teach at the Bruce Mound School.

Miss Flossie Leason left Saturday to take up her work at Downer College at Milwaukee.

Miss Leona Wiertz came home Saturday from Minneapolis where she spent the summer.

Harold Rossman went to Beaver Dam last week where he will spend the winter and go to school.

Miss Minnie Herrian went to Merrillan to meet her niece, Miss Minnie Blakeslee, who came for a visit here.

Mrs. George Cramer and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cramer went to Reedsburg Monday to spend a short time with relatives.

Miss Hattie Belle Pettingill returned to Green Bay Monday after a short visit with Mr. and Mrs. M.N. Wells.

Miss Winifred Cronk of Norwalk spent Sunday here on her way to Brainard, Minn., where she will teach this year.

Max Heaslette and wife and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heaslett drove down from Loyal last Friday to take in the fair and visit with friends.

Miss Rose Dreckmeyer returned home to Beloit Monday after a few days visit with her brother, Al, who came home last week from the Marshfield Hospital.

Dr. and Mrs. C.H. Dowsett of Woodland, Ill., arrived here last Saturday, the guests of Dr. and Mrs. J.H. Brooks. Mr. and Mrs. Dowsett made the trip in their car.

Mrs. B. Tragsdorf and daughter, Miss Edna, went to La Crosse Saturday. Miss Edna will attend the normal there and Mrs. Tragsdorf will spend several weeks there.

Mike Mowar went to Ivanhoe, Minn., on Monday. Miss Anna Klang, who has been a guest at the Frank Mowar home, returned home to Casanovia on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin Schubert returned home to Milwaukee last week after a few days’ visit with Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Schiller. They made the trip in their car.

Miss Katherine Kountz went to Merrillan Sunday morning to meet her grandmother, Mrs. J.T. Bailey, who came from Everett, Wash., and will spend the winter here.

Miss Margaret Hughes started Saturday on her return trip to Union, Mont. She expects to stop off at Menomonie and also at Frankfort, S.D., to visit with her brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. Melville Horton and children came from Ekalaka, Mont., on Saturday. Mr. Horton has been in poor health for several months and they expect to spend some time here.

Mr. and Mrs. N.J. White came over from Wausau Wednesday and spent several days with Mrs. Eva Potter, also taking in the Clark County fair. On Monday they drove home in their car, which came over after them.

Oscar F. Roessler, who was nominated on the Democratic ticket for Secretary of State, has announced that he will not accept the nomination, in which event Merlin Hull will be without an opponent in the general election.

J.A. Phillips, chairman of the Clark County Fourth Liberty Loan Committee, and Mrs. S.F. Hewett, Chairman of the Women’s Committee of the Fourth Loan, attended a meeting of the county chairman at Milwaukee last week.

Lillian Holtz and Eula Irvine are attending Bushey Business College at Appleton. The Bushey School is attracting students from every section of the state, owing to its strong course of study and exceptional success in placing graduates in high salaried positions.

George Rickard, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harve Rickard, and a former Neillsville boy, came on Saturday to spend a short furlough at the Willis Enhelder home in Weston. Young Rickard is enlisted in the navy and has been in the service for five years. He is a chief gunner and for the past year has been engaged in convoying troops across the Atlantic. He has seen service in many waters and has had many very interesting experiences.

E.J. Rossman was at Chicago the first of the week on business.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Rowe went to Fairchild Monday to spend a few days.

Miss Celia Marx returned to Eau Claire Monday after a short visit at home.

Mr. Brauer is here from Oshkosh for a visit with his son, Bob, and his family.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Wilding went to Tripoli Tuesday where Art will work this winter.

Miss Lydia Bartell went to Granton Tuesday, where she will clerk in Jahr Bros. store.

Postmaster and Mrs. Wm. Huntley went to Chippewa Falls Tuesday to spend a few days with their daughter.

Mr. and Mrs. George Sell of Stratford are the proud parents of twin girls, born Sept. 8. Mr. Sell is well known here.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ruege came from Houston, Texas, Monday to spend a short time visiting with relatives on the Ridge.

Elroy Carl Johnson, a jackie from Great Lakes, came home Sunday to undergo another physical examination for trouble which has developed since he enlisted.

Sergt. Walter Tibbitts, who has just returned from France, visited with Miss Ella Holtz and her sister, Minnie, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gus. Holtz last Wednesday evening.

Mrs. A. Paulsrud and daughter returned Monday from a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Cichowski, at Owen. Mrs. Cichowski and baby came home with them to spend a short time here
