Humbird (6 December-1973)

Mrs. Matie Smith returned Tuesday from a long weekend at the home of her son, Everett, and family, in Spencer.

Mrs. Geneva Fitzmaurice celebrated her birthday Friday by having dinner in the home of their son, Bob Fitzmaurice and family in Augusta. Miss Millie accompanied her to Augusta for the day.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Losey of Fairchild, accompanied by Mrs. Anita Markham, were in Eau Claire last Thursday.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson and family of Madison were weekend guests of her brother, Raymond Martin. They also called on other relatives.

Mrs. Helene Nelson of Eau Claire spent Sunday afternoon with her mother, Mrs. Maude Newton and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rosalock and Mrs. Olive Barkley of Eau Claire called there late Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Arnold Matti spent Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Frieda Zerbel.

John Greub is convalescing at home and hopes to be his usual self soon.

Louis Greub and two small daughters of River Falls were overnight guests Friday and spent Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Greub.

Mrs. Millie Trachsel attended the Tea and Art show at the Black River Community hospital, where she exhibited three of her paintings. Among others who attended were Mrs. Alyce Gearing and Mrs. Beatrice Lang.

Cary Austin of Beloit came Friday evening to do some bow and arrow hunting Saturday and Sunday and was a guest of his grandmother, Mrs. Laura Dignin.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Larson in Hixton.

Mr. and Mrs. John Aebersved of Rockford, Il., were weekend guests of her brother, Richard Zimmerman, and on Friday night they were joined by Mrs. Emma Gerber and Mr. and Mrs. William Aebersved for a family dinner.

Mrs. Johanna Olson came home last Sunday from a long weekend spent at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carol Burkhalter, in Rockford, Il.

Mrs. Geneva Fitzmaurice was called to Rochester, Mn., Saturday as her husband, Levi, was bring transferred from St. Mary’s Hospital to the Methodist Hospital for therapy treatment. He has a bleeding ulcer.

The Happy Hour Homemakers held their annual Christmas party Sunday evening with 22 present. Postmaster Willard Stanley, one of the guests, was presented with a candle in the Sherbet dessert, it being his birthday.

Mrs. Mary Reider of Rockford, Il., spent from Wednesday until Saturday of last week at the home of her brother, John Greub.

Mrs. Freida Zerbel was a supper guest Sunday of her son, Donald Zerbel and family.

Perle Pickett had the misfortune of having his right thumb nail completely taken off while using a table saw Thursday. He was taken to the Black River Falls hospital for treatment.

Weekend guests at the Archie Kirby home were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Seuske of St. Paul; and Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Walker of St. Paul joined them for the day.

Terry Johnson, who is with the Navy, spent a weekend recently with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Breheim of Merrillan and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Meyers and son of Neillsville visited Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson and two daughters and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson, of Taylor, were recent dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Zuehlke in Loyal.

Mrs. Johanna Olson spent Sunday in the Allen Zimmerman home in Fairchild.
