Humbird (20 December 1973)

An item came in late and stated to have it published. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burchell and baby, Terry, and Merle Burchell, spent Thanksgiving Day with Mr. and Mrs. John Burchell. It was very enjoyable for Merle prepared and served the complete dinner. (Who says men can’t cook?)

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Taude of Eau Claire spent Thursday with Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice and Millie.

Mrs. Rolla Sieg, Art Papke, Harold Losey and the Rev. and Mrs. Otas Botts of Fairchild were guests of the United Methodist women at their Christmas party Thursday at the home of Mrs. Bernard Sieg.

Wilbur Breheim of Merrillan and Perle Pickett spent Wednesday fishing at Onalaska and repot a large catch.

Mrs. Helen Picket attended the North Branch Homemaker’s Christmas party Tuesday night.

Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Parent spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Don Eisberner.

Miss Barbara Johnson of Marshfield spent the weekend with her grandmother, Mrs. Pearl Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe were in Neillsville Sunday afternoon to call on her brother, Ben Clouse, in the hospital. They also called on Niva Stuve and others in the home.

The program at the Methodist Church Wednesday night was well attended and enjoyed. It brought to our attention the fact that we have a lot of local talent.

Fred Burrington of Thorp and his fiancée, Miss Mary Lou Rowell of Mondovi, visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Parent.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Burnett of Hixton, were in Eau Claire Saturday.

Fred Krosinski of Milwaukee was a recent visitor.

Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe drove to Neillsville and were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Schlei of Green Bay and Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal for a birthday dinner with Mrs. Clouse’s husband, Ben, who is a patient in the hospital. Mr. Clouse expected to go home Monday.

Recent visitors of Mrs. Pearl Johnson were her son, Andy and his family, and Mrs. Bertha Grottke, all of Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman visited Friday evening at the John Greub home.

Mrs. Emma Gerber spent Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Elmer Duerkop. Christmas planning was in the air.

Mr and Mrs. Rolla Sieg of Fairchild and Mrs. Laura Dignin were dinner guests Sunday of Mr and Mrs. Bernard Sieg.

Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center and Mrs. Maude Newton were in Eau Claire Friday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson of Osseo visited recently with Mrs. Pearl Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Burnett and family visited Sunday afternoon at the Perle Pickett home.

Mrs. Sylvester Taylor of Mosinee called on Mrs. Anita Markham Thursday. She was on her way home from Rochester, Mn, where she went for a check-up.

Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips and Marion spent the weekend in Wisconsin Rapids with the Art Allens. They repot Mr. Allen as looking better.
