Tioga (28 Nov 1918)

The pie social and dance given by the Red Cross Saturday evening was a grand success. Pete Susa got the quilt that was auctioned and the two that were raffled were won by Delia Church and Willie Manthey. Mr. Manthey gave his quilt back to the Red Cross and it was auctioned and Pete Larson bid it off. The bean guessing contest furnished quite a lot of amusement and the candy was won by Mr. Bever of Requa. He gave it back to the Red Cross and at auction it brought $3.50. There were some fine looking pies and they brought a good price, due to the enthusiasm of the auctioneer, Wm. Bradford, of Neillsville. The evening’s entertainment and quilts netted $73.90. We wish to thank the Neillsville boys for their help, and especially Mr. Bradford for his services and we hope they had all the pie they wanted.

Mrs. Frank Wood donated a completed quilt to the Red Cross.

W.E. Church and son, George, drove to Neillsville Tuesday.

Clarence and Waite Wilcox, Morris Dickenson, Louis Hill and Jim Bigelow of Chili are among the hunters here this season.

Arin Eastman and mother, Mrs. Wightman, and Vera Slover motored up from Neillsville Saturday evening to take in the quilt raffle and dance.
