A faculty and school personnel luncheon was held at the gym on Thursday, May 28, 1970, in honor of Mrs. Kenneth Rodger and Mrs. Verland Barrett. With this year, they have both completed twenty-five years of teaching in the Greenwood School system. A cake, molded in the shaped of the "Little Red Schoolhouse" was baked for the occasion.

Both teacher started teaching at Greenwood in 1945, with Geneva Barret in grades 5 and 6 and Irene Rodgers in grades 7 and 8. When the junior high was departmentalized, Geneva Barrett taught 7th and 8th grade math, and Irene Rodgers taught the reading and social studies on that level. For the past six years they have both been in the Elementary Library, along with teaching 7th grade English and language arts.

Over this twenty-five year span they said they had witnesses numerous improvements and changes in teaching methods and materials, all of which have resulted in better education and training for the students. They also stated that they are extremely proud and grateful to have served the Board of Education and this community for these past twenty-five years.
