Tweit, Archie (17 MAR 1906 – 27 OCT 1967)

Funeral services for Archi Tweit, a former science teacher and coach at Colby High School and Unity High School Superintendent, were held Oct. 31 at Luther Memorial Church, South St. Paul, and burial was made in the General Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Tweit died Oct. 27, 1967 at Divine Redeemer Hospital.

Archie Tweit was born March 17, 1906, at Erickson, Montana. He attended grade and high schools at Holcombe, Wis., and received a bachelor of science degree from River Falls State University.

He was a science teacher and coach at Colby High School for six years, and was also superintendent of the Unity High School for four years.

In 1951 he opened a supply company in South St. Paul, and was appointed postmaster there in 1955, a position which he held until the time of his death.

He had six years of active duty in the Army during and after World War II, with a total of over 30 years of military service, including the national guard and Army reserve. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

While at South St. Paul, he was a member of the board of education at Inver Grove Heights, a past president of the South St. Paul Lions Club, and a member of the Southeast Area Chamber of Commerce, VFW and American Legion, United Fund and Reserve Officers Association.

Surviving are his widow, Alice, a son, Thomas, and four sisters. His mother, Mrs. Jacob M. Tweit of Prentice, died Oct. 29.
