Peterson, Carl Frederick (9 August 1893 - 28 March 1974)

Carl Frederick Peterson, a resident of Memorial Home for the past several years, died March 28 at the age of 80. Funeral services were held Monday morning from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Carlson of Loyal officiating. Interment was in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Portage, that afternoon.

Born August 9, 1893, in Denmark to Christ and Christina (Larson) Peterson, he was educated there and came to the United States as a young man, locating at Portage. His marriage to the former Anna Zunker took place February 26, 1920, at Portage. The couple moved to a farm in the Riverside area of the Town of Levis in 1921, then farmed in the Loyal area from 1929 to 1942. Mrs. Peterson died in 1942.

After selling the farm, Mr. Peterson returned to Portage where he did farm work and also worked in a canning factory and a bowling alley. In 1952 he moved back to Loyal to live with his daughter and son-in-law.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Morvin (Marian) Benedict of Loyal, and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Nyle Benedict, Rollie Benedict, Kenneth Benedict and Leroy Collinson.

Those from out-of-town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Morvin Benedict, Mr. and Mrs. Nyle Benedict, Sue Benedict and Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Benedict, Loyal; Leroy Collinson and Miss Kathy Collinson, Spencer; and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Benedict, Thorp.
