Paur, Emil C. (22 JUL 1927 - 5 NOV 2015)

Emil C. Paur, 88, died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hope Hospice, according to his wishes of dying on the farm where he was born.

Emil was born July 22, 1927, to John Jr. & Anna (Widmer) Paur in the farmhouse in the Town of Browning, near Gad, in Medford, WI. Emil attended Cloverdale Grade School & graduated from Medford High School class of 1944.

He was a life-long farmer, and even drove milk can truck route before having his driver’s license. He also worked for Widmer and Sons Construction for a number of years. He was a life-long resident of the Town of Browning except for a brief time when he worked for his brother-in-law on a farm in Illinois. He returned to Medford to assist his father John Paur with the family dairy farm, eventually taking over the farm completely and adding to it through the years.

On June 12, 1948, Emil married Gladys E. Brecke and together they raised 6 children. He was an active member of the Farmers Union, Medford Cooperative, Taylor County Credit Union, and Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. He enjoyed playing baseball with the Gad team, watching the Green Bay Packers and baseball, and snowmobiling. He was known for his knowledge of trees, and in his retirement, enjoyed cutting and selling firewood.

Emil is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys, children Starla (Jerry) Siegmann of Milwaukee, Bryan (Carol) Paur of Menomonie, WI, Mitchell Paur of Medford, Jill (David) Smith of Medford, Leslie (Carol) Paur of Delavan, and Cynthia (Mark) Wierschke of West Salem, WI. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and one sister Helen Hirsch of Delavan, WI. He was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Loertscher and Lydia Loertscher.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford and also 10:00 A.M. until 10:50 A.M. Monday, November 9 at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 9 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville with Rev. James Babler officiating with burial to take place in Medford Evergreen Cemetery, Medford. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers; Tyler and Brayden Paur, Adam Smith, Josh, Connor and Zach Wierschke.
