Hanson, Karen (27 APR 1957)

On Saturday, April 27, 1957 at Saron Lutheran Church at Ashland, Miss Karen Hanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter O. Hanson, Ashland, became the bride of Donald Lester Frank, Fairchild, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Frank of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) Rev. N.A. Nelson and Rev. L.D. Stephenson officiated.

The bride chose a traditional gown of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin. The fitted bodice was designed with a scalloped Sabrina neckline, with the long sleeves coming to points over the wrists. The lace was caught to a petal point waistline in an apron effect over a bouffant tulle skirt. Bridal pearls and iridescents sparkled in the princes tiara to which was attached the silk illusion veil. She carried a white prayer book topped with a white orchid.

Her three attendants, Miss Marlene Mattson, as maid of honor, and Miss Doris Hanson, a sister of the bride, and Peggy Stephenson, all of Ashland, her bridesmaids, wore identically styled ballerina frocks of taffeta in a delicate shade of bud pink and rose. The princess lines of the bodice were designed with deep yokes in the rose shade which formed the necklines and thimble sleeves. Their full skirts were given added interest with the godets, which were inserted in the panniers. Small matching French circlets and bouquets of pink and white carnations completed their ensembles.

Barbara Jo Barron and Garie Lee Hanson, Ashland, both cousins of the bride, were flower girls and wore pink taffeta frocks made with net overskirts and matching headpieces.

Following the church service the newlyweds greeted guests at a reception in the church parlors.

The young couple will reside in Fairchild, where the groom is serving as supply pastor for the Methodist Church and is now enrolled at Wis. State College at Eau Claire. He was a graduate of the Greenwood High School with the class of 1954.

The bride is a graduate of the high school at Ashland and was employed in the board of education office there.
