Emling, LaVerne “Red” (18 September 1925 - December 7, 2015) With Flag

LaVerne “Red” Emling, 90, of Black River Falls passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls. He was born Sept. 18, 1925, to Charles and Julia (Olson) Emling in Abbotsford. He was united in marriage to Christine Bauman, and they were later divorced. He later married Margery Revalinski. They lived in East Troy, and they later moved to Taylor.

Red joined the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in April 1954. Through the years, he worked as a milk hauler, farmer, road maintenance, silo builder, Camp Edwards caretaker and other miscellaneous jobs. In 1979, with the move to Taylor, he “officially” retired.

Red is survived by his daughter, Sandy Webster of Chippewa Falls; step-daughter, Elizabeth Shew of Arizona; step-daughter-in-law, Betsy Shew of California; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randy; wife, Margery; parents, Charles and Julia; sisters: Illa Mae Nitz and Marian Western; and son-in-law, James Shew.

A funeral service was held Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Buswell Funeral home, Black River Falls. Burial, with full military honors, was held Satruday, Dec. 12, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Quarterline Cemetery, Troy Center.

Family and friends were invited for visitation Friday at Buswell Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls assisted the family with arrangements.
