Huml, Jeanne A. (Karshna) (18 NOV 1960 - 30 JAN 2016)

Jeanne A. Huml, 55, Medford died Saturday, Jan. 30 at Flambeau Hospital emergency room, Park Falls where she had been taken earlier by ambulance following a snowmobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating.

Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4 where there will also be a 7 p.m. Catholic prayer service held that evening; also from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford on Friday, Feb. 5.

Pallbearers will be Dan Hirt, Dan Nelson, Brad Albrecht, Ron Rebne, Brian Everman and Greg Meskill.

Jeanne was born on Nov. 18, 1960 at Milwaukee to Jerome “Skip” and Judy (Livermore) Karshna of Park Falls. She attended Dover Elementary School, Penn., was a 1979 graduate of Libertyville, Ill. High School, a 1983 graduate of UW-La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and received a master’s in education from Concordia University.
She was married on June 26, 1988 at Park Falls to Jan M. Huml and he survives.

After her education, she taught elementary education in the Park Falls School District, at the Stratford Catholic School and in Milwaukee at St. Adalbert Catholic School. She moved to Medford in 1992 where she owned/operated The Rubber Room stamping business out of her home, taught jail inmates to get their GED for Taylor County, and then was the gifted and talented teacher at Medford Area Elementary School. At the time of her death, she was a first grade teacher at Stetsonville Elementary School. She was the wonderful and loving mother of three daughters and the most incredible wife. She lived every day overflowing with vitality and life and encouraged those around her to do the same. She was certainly a lover of all things fun and enjoyed outdoor activities, especially ice fishing, snowmobiling, boating, snowshoeing, biking, camping and spending time at the cabin on Lake Solberg with family and friends. She also enjoyed rooting for the Green Bay Packers, Jimmy Buffet music, being a parrothead, and her husband’s cooking because she never did quite master the expertise of cooking herself. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, where she taught religious education classes, the Solberg Lake Association, and Tee-Hi Ladies Golf.

In addition to her husband and parents she is survived by three daughters, Alexandria Huml of San Francisco, Calif., Savannah Huml attending the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis; and Francesca Huml attending UW-La Crosse. She is further survived by four sisters, Wendy (Ron) Rebne of Park Falls, Kerry Karshna of Vero Beach, Fla., Kate Karshna of the Twin Cities, Minn., Chris Karshna of Park Falls; two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Bob) Greenway of Hemet, Calif. and Jenny (Bill) Califf of River Falls; and mother-in-law, Sally Huml of Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are to be given to the family for a future Jeanne A. Huml scholastic scholarship fund.
