Ormond, Douglas P. (9 MAR 1896 – 5 FEB 1958)

Douglas P. Ormond was born at Horicon, Wis. March 8, 1896 and was educated in Clark County. He entered military service at Camp Grant, Ill., July 26, 1918, and served in France with the 158th Ambulance Company.

He was married to the former Agnes Zimmerman and lived on route 1, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).

Organization to which Mr. Ormond belonged were American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe.

Mr. Ormond passed away at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville, on Wednesday, February 5, 1958, after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at the Georgas Funeral Home, Neillsville, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8th. Rev. Robert Schlicht, pastor of Globe Immanuel Church, officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Arleen) Woods, and Miss Mathilda Ormond, Baraboo; four sons, Wayne and Roy, Greenwood; Douglas, Baraboo, and George, serving witht eh Air Force at Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Martin (Jessie) Zilisch, Neillsville; Mrs. Robert (Esther) Welsh, Waunakee; Mrs. C.J. (Eva) Dale, Cottage Grove; Mrs. George (Mary) Elmer, Sunnydale, Calif.; three brothers, John, Neillsville; William, Milwaukee; Charles, Kennedy, N.Y., and two grandchildren.

Those from Greenwood who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Elmer, Edwin Finkle, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ormond, Mr. and Mrs. George Kippenhan, Herman Hagen, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson, Doris Duda, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schultz, Howard Schultz, Carol and Gerald Schofield.
