Kapfhamer, Edward J. “Ed” (22 JAN 1924 - 6 NOV 2010)
Edward J. “Ed” Kapfhamer, age 86, of 635 S. Park Avenue Medford, a City of
Medford Resident, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at his residence surrounded by
his loving family and the care of Hope Hospice.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 10 at the Holy Rosary
Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin
officiating.
Cremainal Interment will take place at a later date in the Holy Rosary Catholic
Cemetery, Medford.
Honorary pallbearers are Willis Ross, Clifford Peche, Clifford Zenner, Hank Deml,
Sandy Dahl and Irene Piller.
Visitation will be at 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 9 at the Hemer Funeral
Home, Medford where there will be a 6:30 P.M. Prayer Service and also from 9:00
A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Wednesday, November 10 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.
Edward was born on January 22, 1924 in Medford, to Jacob and Anna (Hoffman)
Kapfhamer.
He attended Holy Rosary School. On May 26, 1948, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
Medford, he married Angeline “Angie” J. Querin. She survives.
After school Ed worked at the Bootzin Feed Store for a year. He then worked at
Hurd Millwork as a machine operator for a period of time. After their marriage
they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Little Black until 1972. He
then owned and operated his own business where he did carpentry, home building
and remodeling and furniture until his retirement in 1984. In his younger years
Ed enjoyed square dancing. He also enjoyed bowling, woodworking, caning chairs,
and playing cards. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.
He is survived by his wife, Angie J. Kapfhamer, of Medford; children, Gary
(Debbie) of Medford, Dan (Jane) Of Medford, Thomas (William Thompson) of
Minneapolis and David (Liz) of Medford, Peggy (Ruth Robb) Kapfhamer of Oxford,
MI, Jeanne (Bruce) Jari of Medford, Cathy (Jim Laduron) Kapfhamer of Nekoosa and
Mary (Monte) Olson of Medford; 11 grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren;
siblings, Helen Seibel of Medford, Irene Piller of Neenah, Florence (Ed)
Sloniker of Greenwood and Sandy Dahl of Medford.
He is predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Anna (Hoffman) Kapfhamer; son Roy
Kapfhamer in June 2010; sister Eleanor Scimeca.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ed’s family which will be
designated to Holy Rosary Church and School 215 S. Washington Street Medford, WI
and Hope Hospice 537 W. Broadway Avenue Medford, WI 54451
