Greenwood High School (Alumni Banquet - 1 June 1974)

The 34th annual Greenwood High School Alumni banquet was held Saturday evening in the gymnasium, with an estimate 125 persons present.

The opening prayer and benediction were led by the Rev. David Logue, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ.

Dinner music was provided by the Yurkovich Trio, composed of Rich Yurkovich, Dennis Pakiz and Glen Johnson.

The welcome was given by Robert Moseley, a member of the school board. The response was made by Dr. Hale Hunt of La Crosse. Harry Liebzeit was the master of ceremonies.

Recognition was given the class of 1924, celebrating their 50th anniversary. Those present were: Mrs. Susie (Drew) Dillon of Pelican Rapids, Mn; Mrs. Irene (Demuth) Peterson of Ladysmith; and Joe Herr and Lawrence Cox of Greenwood. They were introduced by Laird Ross of Waukesha.

Letters were read from Rose Perushek and Edith (Keiner) Gotz of Pittsville, who could not attend.

The Class of 1934 members, present was introduced by Eugene Carteron.

The program included music by Knute Wallin of the high school faculty.

The outstanding alumnus selected for 1974 was Arthur Strommen of Spooner, Class of 1923.

The officers for 1974 who will arrange for the next meeting are: Allen Wessel, president; Louis Landini, treasurer; and Mrs. James Turnquist, secretary.

Floral table decorations were donated by Mrs. John F. Trunkel, and were awarded to Mrs. John (Vera) Wuethrich and Mrs. Anna Rossman, class of 1907, oldest alumni present; the grandmother with the newest grandchild, Mrs. Joe Herr. Mrs. Anita Abel was presented with a gift for her help in making arrangements for the dinner.

The next meeting will be held the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, 1975.

Class of 1934

Eleven classmates of 1934 and their spouses attended the alumni banquet at Greenwood High School Saturday evening. Twenty people in all also later attended a get-together of the class at the Allen Wuethrich home and on Sunday were present for a potluck picnic at the Eugene Carteron home.

Thos from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Petrick of Hibbing, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Perko (Helen Lindeman) of Davenport, Ia.; Mrs. Lillian (Behrens) Redgren of Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Clair Hindal of Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Dunn of Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Mueller (Hazel Kirn) of Schaumburg, Il.; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holt (Ethel Breneman) of International Falls, Mn.
