Our sympathy is extended to the family of Valerious Manthe, 52, who died on Friday, October 24, 1970, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital. He left a wife, Hazel, and two daughters, Mrs. Kelly (Cecelia) Decorah, Loyal, and Miss Judy Manthe at home, three sons, Ronald of Spencer, and Jerry and Charles at home, and six grandchildren.

Arvin Redig returned to service after a leave to visit his mother, Mrs. Mary Redig and family and friends.

Our sympathy is extended to Larry Johnson in the death of his father at a Minnesota hospital recently. The Johnsons lived in the Len Gehrke house on the 98 corner for some years.

Our sympathy is extended to the family of William Oelrich, who passed away on Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was 75. He left two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Dorothy) Vanderhoof, Mrs. Kenneth (Delores) Wilson, both of Spencer, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three brothers, Fred, Frank and George, also all of Spencer. He was preceded in death by his wife, a brother and two sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Metcalfe were informed on Monday that their grandson, Teddy Metcalfe, broke an ankle at work and was put in a cast.

Mrs. Henry Kurz and Cheryl, and Allan Redig visited with Mr. and Mrs. John Neuman early Friday evening.

Tuesday Mrs. Eugene Schmidtke and Mrs. Ray Metcalfe went to Neillsville on business and afterwards visited at the Memorial Hospital with Mrs. William Kammerer, Maudie Shortess and Bessy Wright.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Viergutz of Stony beach were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kurz on Sunday afternoon. They later visited the Harold Florey home.

Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Metcalf spent with time with Mrs. Ray Metcalfe.

Lorena Kurz was a guest of Tammy Sutton at the annual Y Knot Kids 4-H Club Halloween party held at the Sherman Town Hall on Friday evening.

Scotty Schultz held a Halloween party at his home on Sunday afternoon. Games of touch and tackle football, and a tour of a spook house were enjoyed by the following guests: Kenneth Luchterhand, Terry Sutton, Kerry Smith, Raymond and Kenneth Kurz, Mike and Clifford Dishinger, Tracy and Ricky Mews, and Eddie Schultz.

Ronnie Pescinski, 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pescinski fell out of a tree and broke his leg eight weeks ago. He is still a patient in Neillsville Hospital in traction in Room 107. Send him a card kids!

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Tews and Virginia visited with Grandma Tews on Sunday afternoon. H in front of the convalescent home is finished.
