Janesville Settlement (16 Jan 1919)

Chas. Rowert of Janesville came Monday morning for a visit with his father, Wm. Rowert, and to get fence posts ready to set up around his land in the spring. Chas. is a building contractor and thus far has made a success of it.

E.L. Richards, the Watkins agent, was in this vicinity Thursday.

Clark and Evan Hatton attended a dance at Willard Saturday night.

George Hatton of Janesville is here on a visit with his brother, F. Hatton. He spent several weeks at Algoma, Iowa, with a sister, before coming here.

Chas. and Roy Rowert were Globe callers Friday evening.

Fred Kalkofen is busy hauling his winter’s supply of wood, which he purchased of Wm. Rowert.

The Joe Lakotick family are all well again after a long siege with the flu, but Mrs. Mike Podobnick is seriously ill with pleurisy and a relapse of the flu.

Mrs. Carl Hatton and son, Donald, have both been sick for a week with a bad cold.

Mrs. F. Marlik called on Mrs. Lew Dimler Friday afternoon.

Chas. Rowert was around Monday afternoon renewing old acquaintances at M.M. Bahl’s, C. Hatton’s and F. Hatton’s.

Evan Hatton, Roger Dillenbeck and Tom Moorehead spent a week ago Sunday with Chud Dufanbach.

Roy Rowert became home from Willard to spend a few days with his brother, Charles.

The Clintsman boys are busy hauling wood to Neillsville there days.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rowert visited with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Churkey Sunday.

Bert Wood is busy sawing logs for the farmers in the Susa and Dimler settlement.

F. Marlik is busy hauling logs to the saw mill.

Lou Dimler and son, Orville, are getting out timber for the new barn, which they are going to build next summer.

Mr. Bostwick and son, Lyle, were seen driving on our streets one day last week.

Mrs. Chas. Bostwick spent Monday with Mrs. C. Hatton.

Miss Anna and Sophia Waseca spent Sunday with their sister, Mrs. J.J. Susa.

Chas. Rowert spent Sunday afternoon and evening with Roger Dillenbeck.

Mr. and Mrs. L. Dimler spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. F. Meyers.

F. Hatton and family and Geo. Hatton and Roy Rowert spent Sunday evening at C. Hatton’s.
