Kuhn, Ruby V. (11 December 1922 - 18 April 2016)

Ruby V. Kuhn, 93, of Neillsville died at 6:20 a.m. April 18, 2016, at the Neillsville Care & Rehab Center where she was in rehab since April 4, 2016.

She was born Dec. 11, 1922, in the Township of York, Clark County, to Horace and Mildred (Wheelock) Rodman. She attended several country grade schools and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1940.
She married Bernard Kuhn Aug. 25, 1940, at the Norwegian Lutheran Church at Black River Falls. During their 61 years of marriage, they farmed on the family farm in the Township of Washburn until their retirement in 1987.

Ruby was very active with the PMPC/AMPI for over 40 years. She served as fire warden for over 30 years for the Township of Washburn. She also was a 4-H leader for over 35 years.

Her hobbies included working in her flower garden, baking and canning. Ruby’s family was very important to her, and she enjoyed spending time with them on holidays and celebrations. She will always be remembered for baking four loaves of homemade bread every other day and for making plum pudding for Christmas Day. She had a special fondness for little children.

Ruby is survived by 14 children: Sylvia (Robert) Hopfer of Neillsville, Patricia Sorenson of Longmont, CO, James (Becky) Kuhn of Cashton, Judy (Paul) Groskreutz of Oshkosh, William (Elizabeth) Kuhn, Kenneth (Eileen) Kuhn, Mildred Gumz, Wendell (Lin) Kuhn and Edward (Cheryl) Kuhn, all of Neillsville, Diane (Dave) Froelich of Wausau, Vickie Dux of Marshfield, Lois (John) Garbisch of Granton, Mary Ellen (Duane) Bol of Baldwin and Virginia (Michael Schlecht) Kuhn of Minneapolis, MN. Survivors also include: 38 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild (due in July), plus several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, in 2001; a daughter, Josephine, in 1944; a son, Wayne, in 1950; her parents; and siblings: Cecil Rodman, Ruth Schultz, Birdine Oman, Robert Rodman, Clyde Rodman, Bernard Rodman and Harley Rodman.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April, 30, 2016, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Rev. Jacoba Koppert will officiate with words from Rev. Ralph Schram. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Attoe will be the soloists and Eileen Zank will be the organist.

Interment will be in the City of Neillsville Cemetery following the service at the church.
