Sowle, Larry W. (21 MAY 1947 – 8 MAY 2016)

Larry W. Sowle, 68, Greenwood, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 8, 2016. A memorial mass was held at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 13, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. Rev. Steve Brice officiated. Military rites were conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238.

Larry William Sowle was born on May 21, 1947, in Milwaukee, to Gerald M. and Jeanette A. (nee Tralmer) Sowle. He was raised in Milwaukee, and attended St. Albert’s Catholic School, Edison Junior High School and Custer High School. After completing his education, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army on Dec. 31, 1964, and served until his honorable discharge on March 3, 1966. He married Patricia Ann Carl on Oct. 20, 1984, at Florist Avenue Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Larry was a truck driver for Yellow Freight until retiring in 2003 after 27 years with the company. He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Post #238, and had many interests, but especially enjoyed hunting, playing cards, watching Westerns on TV, having a beer or two, and golfing.

Larry will be dearly missed by his wife, Patty, Greenwood; one son, Alex (Amy Lund) Sowle, Menomonie; two daughters from an earlier marriage: Tami Sowle and Amy Boehringer, both of Brookfield; three grandchildren: Jaden, Kayla and Jonathon; two brothers: Dennis (Vicki) Sowle of Sussex, and Terry (Colleen) Sowle of Menomonee Falls; one sister, Dawn (Jeff) Mallette of Monument, Colo.; one brother-in-law, Michael Dueno of Cedarburg; his lifelong friends, Lynn (Linda) Halboth of Delafield; his Godchild, Justin Michael Halboth; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Sandy Dueno.
