Sam served in the U.S. Army, stationed out of the Chicago area. Together they lived several places before settling in Wausau in 1967. Sam worked at Foremost Foods in Rothschild for 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved and respected animals, including his springer spaniels.
Survivors include his children, Sonia (Peter) Gestner and Tim (Donna) Gosse; grandchildren, Katie (Craig) Buttke, Julie Gestner (Dustin Winter), Matthew Gestner, Preston (Chelsee) Hanson and Seazon Hanson; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Bernice Gosse; nephews; a niece; a cousin; and dog, Buttons.
