Bill Turnquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Turnquist of rural Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), has been selected as a member of the All-Conference Basketball Team of the eastern division of the Cloverbelt Conference. This is the second consecutive year that Turnquist has bee selected by the coaches of the Conference for a berth on the All-Conference Team. The following comments are excerpts from the news release story as printed in the Marshfield News Herald. "All-star members this year who have made the team before are…and Greenwood's Bill Turnquist, considered by more than one coach to be the best basketball player in the conference. If Bandor is a new flawless performer, Turnquist is, too.

Like Bandor, a fine football player, Turnquist is a member of a Greenwood family with a rich athletic tradition. There isn't a thing that he doesn't do well on the basketball floor, and despite the fact that he may be a fraction of an inch shorter than the other three boys listed in the 5-10 category, he grabs his share of rebounds."

Laverne Volovsek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Volovsek of rural Greenwood, was selected by the coaches as a member of the second team of the Cloverbelt Conference.

Word has been received that Bill has been named to the WSAU Radio and Television All Star Team for small schools.

Members of the 1964 All Star Team will be feted at a banquet, Monday, March 16. Guest speaker of the event will be John Kundla, Head University of Minnesota Basketball coach. The team will be guests of WSAU at the Championship Game of the WIAA State Tournament.
