110 attend Sternitzky Reunion (Clark County Press, August 24, 2005)

A reunion of the descendants of Charles and Kate Sternitzky was held on Saturday, August 13, 2005, at the Granton Community Park with an attendance of about 110 people. This included the Albert Sternitzky, William Sternitzky, Anna (Sternitzky) Martin, and Phoebe (Sternitzky) Opelt descendants.

After a potluck dinner was enjoyed, an introduction of family members was done. Each person introduced him or her self and told which family he or she represented. This was meaningful to so many.

A special family member, Lorraine (Sternitzky) Nowak, was recognized for her many years of work on the Family Genealogy Book and for her many years on the reunion committee.

Carol Jean Wesenberg introduced a foreign exchange student, Josephine Perekert, from Germany. She will be living with the Wesenbergs for the 2005-2006 school year.

Diane (Hahn) Tobin’s grandson was introduced as he is leaving for duty in Iraq this week. A round of applause was given in appreciation for his service as a representative of this great land of ours - the United States of America. We pray for his safety and the safety of all service people representing our country.

Delmar Sternitzky who is presently in the Colby Home gave a special "Thank You" for the reunion.

A reunion will be held again in 2006 with the date yet to be determined. Two committee members were announced. They are Steve Sternitzky from Wisconsin Rapids and Harlin Sternitzky from Granton. The Committee members for this year were: Lorraine (Sternitzky) Nowak, Lila (Sternitzky) Schmitz, Patty (Sternitzky) Farnsworth, LaVonne (Sternitzky) Schmidt, and Diane (Hahn) Tobin.

Families in attendance were from Chili, Kewaunee, Loyal, Green Bay, Marshfield, Neillsville, Junction City, Auburndale, Granton, Colby, Cameron, Blair, Oconomowoc, Unity, Nekoosa, Wisconsin Rapids, Spencer, Machesney, Illinois and from Arizona.
