Mrotek, Alex D. (12 APR 1903 – 20 SEP 1971)

Alex D. Mrotek, 68, died at 1:00 p.m. September, 20, 1971, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, of a lingering illness.

Alex Mrotek was born April 12, 1903 in Kewaunee, Wisconsin and attended Kewaunee schools. He came to the Town of Beaver (Clark Co., Wis.) at the age of 16.

He was married on July 11, 1928 at Loyal to May Ellen Stevens, who survives him. He farmed for 40 years in the Town of Beaver, and then moved to Owen. He served on the School Board at the Sunnyside School and held the following offices: Town Chairman of the Town of Beaver, Clerk of the Town of Green Grove, Assessor for the Town of Green Grove, and was a Clark County Draft Board member for the last 13 years. Since leaving the farm, Mr. Mrotek has sold seed corn and silos and worked for the A.S.C. Office.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Duane Mrotek, Hayward, Wisconsin; John Mrotek, Falls Church, Virginia; Clair Mrotek, Rochester, Minn.; and Pat Mrotek, Cadott, Wisconsin; one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Joyce) Major, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.; 19 grandchildren; one brother, Roman Mrotek, Marshfield; and one sister, Mrs. Albert Rueth, Loyal, Wisconsin.

Funeral services for Mr. Mrotek will be held Thursday, September 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Owen, with Father George Becker officiating.

There will be a rosary at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Hoeper & Kraut Funeral Home, Owen. Visitations may be made Wednesday afternoon and evening.

Pallbearers for the services are Val Wojner, Dan Frederick, Dick Laube, Harold Laube, A.W. Gerhardt, and Orville Whitman.
