Horban, Peter (9 June 1929 – 27 September 2016) With Flag

Peter Horban, 87, Pittsville, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating. Burial took place in Holy Family Cemetery, Stanley, where military rites were conducted. The visitation was held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time, all at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield.

Peter was born on June 9, 1929, in Thorp, Wisconsin, to Henry and Celia (Figura) Horban and attended elementary and high school there. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Peter was united in marriage to Rose F. Ciszewski on September 8, 1956, in Chicago. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with immediate family this year.

Peter had been self-employed as an auto mechanic in downtown Chicago. In 1970, the Horbans moved to Pittsville and he became employed at Hank’s Auto Sales until his retirement.

Peter was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing accordion, guitar, bass and drums with various area polka bands.

He is survived by his wife; Rose and their children: Linda Ewer (David Parker) of Pittsville, Leonard (Sue) Horban of Phillips, Yvonne Beckman of Stevens Point, Larry (Stacy) Horban of Marshfield and Kevin Horban (Jenny Strey) of Pittsville. He is also survived by four granddaughters: Alysha Beckman, Rachael Ewer, Laura Ewer and Sierra Horban. He is further survived by a brother, Mike Horban; sister-in-law, Emily Horban; in-laws: Bernard and Ruth Ciszewski, Dolly Lobacz, Stan and Susan Ciszewski, Lana Ciszewski, Robert and Darcy Ciszewski; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings with in-laws: John and Pat Horban, Virg and Paul Lockhart, Wally and Monica Horban, Sam and Estelle Horban, Catherine and George Greenawalt, Mary and Joe Pawelko, and Joe Horban and in-laws, Tony and Bernice Ciszewski, Ed Lobacz and Joe Ciszewski.
