Reinhold Guk left for Weyawega last Saturday morning to spend a few days with relatives.

Carl Kais went to Boyd to attend the funeral of his nephew last Friday.

Sam Cook of the Ridge was in this neighborhood selling silos last week. He is selling a good silo and ought to make a success of his new undertaking. The writer acknowledges a pleasant call.

Henry Jensen is expecting Fred Handke’s saw mill the fore part of the week to saw timbers for his new barn.

Chas. Buchman and family spent Sunday at Louis Sternitzky’s.

Rolla Keller, who has signed a contract to keep the school marms from getting lonesome, met his waterloo last Saturday evening while trying to take one to a dance at Granton. About a week ago he bought a Ford car of Louis Sternitzky that was guaranteed to be safe and sound and gentle as a lamb, but lo and behold, the great trust that he had put into that contrivance caused his undoing. It will perhaps never be known, but it is rumored that before Rolla took his partner in tow, he made a few trial trips to see that everything was in running order and could stand the pressure, and while in motion he also demonstrated to himself the movements and actions he intended to make when Miss was safely sitting by his side. But while thus engaged, he became somewhat engrossed and lost his bearings and also his grip on the steering wheel and the car that had always been guided by a firm hand became frightened by a number of frogs in the ditch and bolted for a mud hole, where it became mired and also put some of its intestines out of commission. Jim Quicker, the town assessor, was summoned with all possible haste to take an inventory to see if that pile of junk was still taxable property and with the aid of a shovel and team of horses and cuss words enough to fill volumes, that wonderful creation of mankind was transported to solid ground and Monday the injured parts were taken to Granton on a lumber wagon. We have not been informed what parts of the internal regions gave out, but it is our belief that in shying off, the kapeter came in contact with the kaplunker and busted the stink producer. Rolla has been trying to find a substitute to take that job off his hands, but thus far has met with failure.
