Lambert J. “Red” Brost, 87, of Medford died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his home.

Red was born July 9, 1929 in Medford, to the late Anton J. and Margaret (Enders) Brost. He attended Holy Rosary School and Medford Senior High School graduating in 1947.

On June 16, 1951 he married the love of his life, Adeline Mayer, in the post chapel at Fort Bragg, NC where he was serving in the U.S. Army.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

Upon graduating from high school he was employed at Gelhaus & Brost Chevrolet, Inc. of Medford. He became co-owner and was appointed a General Motors Dealer in 1960, a position he held until ill health forced his retirement in 1995.

Red was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a long time member of the Taylor County Sportsmen’s Club, the NRA and EAA. He was also a member of the Medford Fire Department for 12 years and a past member of Tee Hi Golf Club and the Medford Curling Club.

He enjoyed camping, hunting with his four sons, riding his UTV and collecting WWII era model airplanes. He also loved to restore vintage trucks, tractors & military vehicles.

He is survived by his four sons, Joel (Lori) and James (Vicky) of Medford; and identical twin sons Tim (Kathy) of Plain City, OH and Todd (Jolene) of Eau Claire. “Papa Red” was the proud Grandfather of 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Arlyle Mayer of Green Bay and Marlene Dettmering of Medford; and by three brothers Leroy, Vernon and Allen (Joanne) all of Medford.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife in 2005, a son, Charles in infancy; two sisters Rita Werner and Peg Tuma; and one brother Tom.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Father Philip Juza and Father Frederick Brost officiating. Full military honors will be presented.

Visitation with family and friends will be on Saturday, October 29 Holy Rosary Catholic church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Following the service a luncheon will be held at the Holy Rosary cafeteria. A further celebration of Red’s life for family and friends will be held at the Medford VFW from 2:00 – 6:00 Saturday.

Internment of his cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made in the name of the Holy Rosary School or the Aspirus Medford Foundation.

Dmytro, Cecilia (Szczesniak) (16 MAY 1933 - 23 OCT 2016)

Cecilia Dmytro, 83, formerly of Lublin, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Bethel Nursing Home in Arpin.

She was born in Taylor County at her family home on May 16, 1933 to the late Savery and Regina (Bonczkiewicz) Szczesniak.

Cecilia was one of seven children and grew up on the family farm. She attended Clark Elementary School grades 1-8 and proceeded to Withee High School.

Following graduation she attended teachers college in Medford and continued further education at the University of Eau Claire where she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. After acquiring her degree she taught at Lublin, Owen Withee, Redville and finally in Gilman where she retired in 1996 after 43 years of teaching.

Cecilia married William Dmytro on May 16, 1954 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She was an avid seamstress and was also an excellent baker who prepared many holiday meals for her family. Cecilia was also an avid skier; teaching all of her grandchildren and hosting an annual event to have the entire family together for a weekend on the hill.

She is survived by her sons; Robert Dmytro of Watertown and David (Lisa) Dmytro of Wausau, daughter-in-law; Geraldine Dmytro of Perkinstown, her five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Hillary (Dan) Tolzman and their children, Emma and William of Marshfield, Dustin (Sherri) Dmytro and their children, Clark and Claire of Gilman, Barry (Eric) Dmytro of Lublin, Stacy (Nick) Syryczuk and their children Henry and Jane and Brandi Dmytro of Minnesota.

She is further survived by her siblings, Jean (Frank) Collura of Milwaukee, Gertrude (Klayton) Micke of Appleton, Lorraine (James) Halpin of Coatesville, Penn. and Bernard (Fran) Szczesniak of Rosemount, Minn.

Cecilia is preceded in death by her husband, Bill (2014), her parents, son Jeff, a brother, Edward, and her sister, Dorothy (Richard) Krueger.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Thorp with Pastor Dan Vang officiating. Burial will follow in the East Side Cemetery-Thorp.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the Church. Plombon Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Gilman Schools for the readers are leaders program.

Galarowicz, Minnie A. (Klosowski) (29 MAY 1920 - 23 OCT 2016)

Minnie A. Galarowicz, age 96, of Lublin, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Aspirus Care & Rehab in Medford, WI.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, in Lublin. Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 9:30 am until time service.

Minnie A. Klosowski was born on May 29, 1920 in Chicago, IL, to Walter, Sr. and Nettie (Zdancewicz) Klosowski.

As a young girl, her family moved to a farm in the Lublin area, where she was raised and received her education. Minnie developed many skills and talents growing up and helping her parents on the farm. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Edward Galarowicz, on September 20, 1939. Together they raised their family and farmed successfully for 42 years until retiring in 1981.

In retirement, Minnie was an avid gardener who nurtured her flowers and gardens with loving care. She was most happy when spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and had a special relationship with each one of them. Minnie was, and will continue to be, greatly loved and admired by her family.

She is survived by her children: Virginia (Bruce) Luraas of Withee, WI, James (Kathy) of Excelsior, MN, Debra (Gordy) Palms of Withee, WI, Diane Galarowicz of Lublin; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one son-in-law: Ted Wojkiewicz of Stanley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddie, on October 29, 1985; 2 daughters: Delores Wasylko and Alice Wojkiewicz; one grandson: Charles Copeland; 4 sisters: Lillian Bjornestad, Jeannette Krieger, Eleanor Nowak, Jane Lencz; and one brother: Walter Klosowski, Jr.

Guziak, Elaine M. (Lindow) (20 MAY 1925 - 2 NOV 2009)

Guziak, Elaine M. (Lindow) 84 of Milton, MA passed away Nov. 2, 2009 at John Adams Health Care Center in Quincy, MA after succumbing to a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

Elaine was the beloved wife of the late John Guziak. Loving mother of ten children: Robert Guziak of Los Angeles, Joanne and husband Joe Grassa of Milton, MA, Julienne and husband William Verbrick of Nekoosa, WI, William Castar of Los Angeles, James and wife Cindy of Anaheim, CA, Kay Jackson of Milton, MA, John and wife Valerie of Westchester, CA, Sue and husband Tom Gaber of Rhinelander, WI, Linda Guziak of Quincy, MA and Paul and wife Barb of Coto de Caza, CA.

She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her brother John and wife Susan of Sacramento, CA and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ella Lindow of Medford, WI and her brother Edward Lindow.

Visiting hours in the John J. O'Connor & Son Funeral Home, 740 Adams St. (near Gallivan Blvd.) DORCHESTER, on Friday from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass in St. Agatha Church, Milton, Saturday morning at 10:30.

Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Interment will take place in Wisconsin at a later date.

Ortman, James R. "Jim" (2 OCT 1941 - 23 OCT 2016)

James R. "Jim" Ortman, 75, Milan, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Deerview Meadows in Medford, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

He was born October 2, 1941 in Indiana, son of the late Robert and Wilma (Conner) Ortman. On November 2, 1979, he married Ramona "Rae" Huettl in Milwaukee. She survives.

In his younger years, Jim was an independent milk hauler and later worked for Peter Trucking in Athens and retired from Anamax Company in Abbotsford. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife, Rae.

Survivors include his wife; five siblings, Jack (Barb) Ortman, Athens, Donna Solchenberger, Athens, Betty (David) Holbach, Athens, Martha Rodman, Edgar and Phyllis (Gerald) Klimpke, Athens; and many nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Abbotsford.

Rodman, Robert G. (24 OCT 1935 - 22 MAR 2003)

Robert G. Rodman, 67, F1427 State Highway 29, Athens, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.

Robert was born October 24, 1935, in the town of Frankfort, son of Helen (Dorfschmidt) Rodman and the late Oscar Rodman. He married Judy Becker on September 8, 1962, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. She survives.

Robert was a dairy farmer. He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army. Traveling, hunting and fishing were among his favorite things to do. Most of all he loved to baby-sit his three grandsons.

Besides his wife, Judy Rodman, Athens and his mother, Helen Rodman, Athens, survivors include, three sons, Brian (Cindy) Rodman, Wausau, Blain (Diane) Rodman, Wausau, Bradley Rodman, Athens; three grandsons, Nathan, Joshua and Thomas Rodman; one brother, Gene (Martha) Rodman, Edgar; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Wien. Rev. Roger Moldenhauer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

There will be a prayer services at 7:45 p.m. on Monday at the Athens Funeral Home.

Mildred M. Schoenrock, 56, Marshfield died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.

She was born June 19, 1960 in Milwaukee, daughter of Jean (Morse) Niemann, Athens and the late Erwin Schoenrock.

Survivors include her mother, Jean (John) Niemann, Athens, her siblings, Erwin (Kim) Schoenrock Jr., Athens, Paul Schoenrock, Mosinee, Kurt (Laura) Schoenrock, Weston and Lori (Ken) Lenhard, Athens and 16 nieces and nephews.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by one aunt, Judy Burchardt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar. The Rev. George Graham will officiate. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery.

Shereda, Patrick J. (17 MAR 1920 - 23 OCT 2016)

Patrick J. Shereda, aged 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 23, 2016, in Medford.

Pat was born in Medford on March 17, 1920, the only son of John and Mayme (Fredricks) Shereda and graduated from Medford High School in 1936.

Pat volunteered for military service in World War II, during which time he became a pilot, flying a B-24 “Liberator” out of Southern Italy until he was shot down on his 13th mission in 1944, and escaped with the help of the Italian Resistance during a harrowing two week trek across the mountains of Northern Italy into Switzerland. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Pat returned home to Medford in 1945 to care for his parents and met his wife to be, the beautiful Betty Marti. Betty and Pat were married in 1948 and celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on October 16. He joined the Medford Post Office in the late 1940’s, where he became Postmaster in 1962, having been appointed by President John F. Kennedy. He retired from the Post Office in 1976.

Pat was a lifetime resident of Medford and an active member of the community and Holy Rosary Parish. Following his retirement he, among other things, served on the Medford City Council and worked for many years in hospice.

He loved golfing – was instrumental in the development of the Black River Golf Course – bowling, playing poker, and going out with the guys to cook a meal in the woods.

Pat is survived by his wife Betty, of Medford, six children and five grandchildren.

Services for Pat will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 28, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.

A reception in honor of Patrick will be held at the Black River Country Club, immediately following burial to celebrate his life and times, sense of justice and decency and his kind and generous spirit. He will be greatly missed.

Wootos, Malinda Victoria (Flink) (30 DEC 1919 - 15 OCT 2016)

Malinda Victoria Wootos, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Chicago on October 15, 2016.

Linda was born in Unity on December 30, 1919 and was the daughter of August and Elsie (Peterson) Flink. She was a 1937 graduate of Unity High School.

As a young woman Linda moved to Chicago and made that her home. She married the love of her life, Peter M. Wootos on October 16, 1942. Together the co-owned Peter-Lin's restaurant in Lagrange, IL. She was a server in many Chicago establishments and retired from Mayor's Row Restaurant on State Street. The couple loved to travel and dance together.

Wootos was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Peter Wootos on June 3, 2003. She was also predeceased by her parents and siblings Lorraine (Gladys), Neva (Kenneth) Binning, Loretta (Warren) Fuller, Walter (Gertrude), Beatrice (Frank) Obernberger, Conrad (Irene), Alice (Bernard) Tesmer, and Elroy Flink.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a special friend and neighbor, James Petrone.

A Memorial Service will be held for Linda and Pete at First United Church of Christ in Colby, on Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m.

The funeral service is to be officiated by Pastor Teri Hanson. Interment will follow at the Unity Lutheran Cemetery.

Zaborsky, Bertha Irene (Sulkko) (20 SEP 1927 - 23 OCT 2016)

Bertha Irene Zaborsky, 89, entered eternal life on October 23, 2016 at Avanti Health and Rehab center, Minocqua.

She was born in Ogema on Sept 20, 1927 to Mathias and Anna Sulkko who both came to this country from Finland.

Her many joys in life included raising five children, gardening, canning, visiting relatives on weekends, church functions, and cheering for the Prentice Bucs girls basketball team with her husband, Daniel. For over ten years, she enjoyed caring for the elderly as the site manager at the Brantwood Nutrition Site.

For the past five years, Bertha loved being cared for by the living angels at Avanti, who love and will miss her as much as her family will. Her precious visits from Pastor Jon always topped the list during these final years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; son James; grandson, Brent; sister, Miriam; and 16 half- brothers and sisters.

She is survived by children, Kenneth (Sheila) Zaborsky, Steven (Melody) Zaborsky, Robert Zaborsky, Donna (Brian) Diment and also five grandchildren, Penny, Daniel, William, Elizabeth, Jessica.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. at the Bolger Funeral Home-Woodruff Chapel on Friday October 28 and again on Saturday, October 29 from 10-11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Arbor Vitae. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29 at Peace Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Prentice Cemetery
