Heise, Melvin “Sonny” (26 JUL 1939 - 25 JAN 2003)

Melvin “Sonny” Heise, 63, town of Rib Falls, passed away at his home on January 25, 2003.

He was born July 26, 1939, in Rib Falls, the son of Ella Pagel and the late Alfred Heise. On May 20, 1961, he married Leila Dehnel at St. Johns Church, Town of Maine.

As a young man, Melvin drove milk truck, until he took over the family farm. He farmed until his retirement. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and shopping at his favorite store, Fleet Farm. He loved growing flowers and tending to his yard. He also enjoyed listening to polka music and he was an avid Packer fan. Melvin had a warm, caring heart and a genuine love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his many special pets.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Leila “Dear” Heise, his three daughters, Deb “Doll” (Terry) Stencil, Bonnie “Jeanie” (Rodney) Stieber, Linda “Baby” (Ryan) Berg, and his one son, whom he often referred to as his little boy, Patrick (Lisa) Heise; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Andrea and Laura Stencil, Kyle, Jordan and Bryce Stieber, and Amber and Ashley Berg; his mother, Ella Pagel, and mother-in-law, Belinda Dehnel; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Robert Nass, Reuben (Evelyn) Dehnel and Eugene (Kelly) Dehnel; and nieces and nephews, David (Kathy Bellile-Nass) Nass, Bryan (Sheri) Dehnel, Connie (Perry) Nikolai, Randal (Lunette) Dehnel, Kathy (Ed) Zoborowski, Terry (Rachel) Dehnel and Kelly (Joe) Peterson.

He is preceded in death by his father Alfred Heise, his sister, LoRayne Nass, father-in-law, Ewald Dehnel, step-father, Norman Pagel, and sister-in-law Joan Dehnel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the town of Rib Falls. Pastor Terry Reich will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, January 27, 2003, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm. Visitation will also be held at the church, January 28, 2003, from 10:00 am until the time of services.
