Stauske, Edna Helen (Zarling) (30 DEC 1939 - 19 JUL 2011)

Edna Helen Stauske (Zarling), 89, Athens, died Monday, July 19, 2011 at Colonial Center, Colby.

Funeral services will be 2p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. The Rev. Andrew Alberts will officiate. Burial will be in Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 11a.m. until the time of services all at the church.

Pallbearers for the service will be Lee Zarling, Ken Zarling, Harvey Becker, Dean Goetter, Leonard Stauske and Walter Stauske.

She was born July 21, 1921 in the town of Johnson, daughter of the late Samuel and Ida (Lehman) Zarling. On May 5, 1945 she married Hubert Stauske at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2005.

When Edna was 17 she went to Milwaukee and worked there for several years. At age 21 she moved to Wausau and worked for a year as a housekeeper for a Doctor, at Silberlnagels and at Marathon Battery. After marrying Hubert she became a homemaker and farmwife.

Survivors include her children, George Stauske and Lois (Kelly) Bunkelman, both of Athens; three grandchildren, Steven, Suzanne and Sabrina Bunkelman, all of Athens; sister-in-law, Dorothy Zarling, Cedarburg; and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Hubert, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Art (Evelyn) Zarling, Walter Zarling, George Zarling and Lawrence (Leona) Zarling; and sister and brother-in-law, Freida (Palmer) Groth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or School, Athens.
