Riley, Marcella C. (Schoneski) (23 JAN 1916 - 26 MAR 2013)
Marcella C. Riley, age 97, Edgar, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 under the care of 
Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at St. 
John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Full 
military honors will be performed by the American Legion Sawyer-Drumm Post No. 
393, Edgar, immediately following the Mass.
She was born January 23, 1916 in Edgar, daughter of the late George and Bridgett 
(Filtzkouski) Schoneski. She was a graduate of Edgar High School. In 1934 she 
moved to Chicago and graduated from Pierson Business College in 1937. She worked 
as a legal secretary in Chicago and California.
Marcella was proud to have served her country in the Women's Army Corp. 
enlisting on August 6, 1943 and serving until November 27, 1945. She enjoyed 
crocheting, reading, going to the theater, especially to plays. After her 
retirement in 1982 she moved back to Edgar to live with her nephew, Leon. She 
helped at St. John's Catholic School as a volunteer, listening to children read. 
She loved traveling and spent the winters in California for many years.
Survivors include her nephews, Leon Ernenputsch, Wally Thurs, Tony Thurs, all of 
Edgar, Art Schallock, Stratford, Pat Hurley, Manitowoc, Jimmy Hurley, New York, 
Leland Hurley, Virginia, and Bruce Hurley, Milwaukee; nieces, Alvina Joswiak, 
Edgar, Marian Warosh, Edgar, Jean Rasmussen, Marathon, Judy Strodthoff, New 
Holstein, Joan Stratton, Pennsylvania, and Betty Stanley, Washington.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Thurs, and 
four sisters, Johanna Banie, Emma Kondelza, Mary Ernenputsch and Loretta Hurley.
