Schilling, Marie Ulricka (Borchardt) (4 MAR 1924 - 2 JAN 2014)
Marie Ulricka Schilling, 89, formerly of Edgar, died January 2, 2014 at her home
in Marshfield with her family and under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, January 6th at St. John's Lutheran
Church, Edgar. Reverend Gail Sowell will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until the time of services at the church on Monday.
Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Colby.
Marie was born March 4, 1924 in the Town of Wein to the late Anton and Elizabeth
(Mueller) Borchardt. She married Karl Schilling on September 1, 1954 at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Colby.
They worked together on the family dairy farm. Sadly, Karl died on March 27,
1963 leaving Marie to raise their five children. She was a tough and determined
woman, who never complained and went about her work of raising her children and
working the farm.
Marie was a very good mother who never let herself be idle. She worked hard,
cooked and baked wonderful meals and treats for her family throughout her life
and always had love in her heart for her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Never one to sit still, Marie could often be found
crocheting blankets, baby caps, scarfs and sewing prayer shawls and quilts for
charity. She not only did this hobby alone but with close friends and members of
her church. She was also a very pious woman who had a great love for her God and
whose faith never wavered.
Marie is survived by her loving children, Dennis (Donna) Schilling, James
(Joanne) Schilling, Carleen (Mark) Kramas, Barbara (Mike) Bruski and Kristine
(Brad) Slavinsky; step-children, Danny (Marion) Wehrman, Louise (Bill) Kallstrom,
Eugene Wehrman, Terry Wehrman and Tammy (Rick) Dunow; 10 grandchildren; 8
step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren and
extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Cathrine; step-daughter, Karen and
brothers, Frank, William, Leroy and Elroy.
