Seeger, Herbert A. Sr. (25 MAR 1927 - 2 APR 2010)

Herbert A. Seeger Sr., 83, Edgar, passed away Friday morning April 2, 2010 in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield after a brief illness.

The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Very Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.

He was born March 25, 1927, son of the late Paul and Marie (Amelung) Seeger. On May 29, 1948 he married Mary Welbes at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. She survives.

He lived his life fulfilling his passion dairy farming, along with his wife, Mary and their four children. They were the proud recipients of the Century Farm Award in 2007. In his early years, he also had a number of part-time jobs, such as driving milk trucks and school bus. He was also quick to lend a hand to neighbors when they needed it.

Throughout his life, he traveled to California, Montana (Glacier Park), and Door County. After retiring, he took great enjoyment in feeding the birds and cats on the farm. Herbert loved Polka music and watching the Green Bay Packers. He will be remembered as a kind man, who was quick to greet you with a kiss on the cheek and a hug.

Herbert will be deeply missed by his wife Mary, two sons James (Jayne) Seeger and Herbert Jr. (Lisa) Seeger, all of Wausau, two daughters, Barbara (James) Spatz, Wausau and Alice (Norbert) Schuster, Fall Creek, nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Spatz, Highpoint, NC, Sarah Spatz, Wausau, Jodi (Ryan) DeBroux, Athens, Justin Seeger, Wausau, Jesse (Alissa) Schuster, Eau Claire, Cody Schuster, Fall Creek, Holly Schuster, Atlanta, GA, Alex Seeger, Wausau and Connor Marie Seeger, Wausau, two great grandchildren, Emma DeBroux and Evan DeBroux, both of Athens and one sister, Esther Croy, Fullerton, CA.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Ervin and Kenneth Seeger and two sisters, Viola Rove and Myrtle Seymour.
