Hamann, Wilma Louise (Syring) (18 OCT 1937 - 4 JAN 2017)

Wilma Louise Hamann, 79, passed away on Jan. 4, 2017, in Eagle River, Alaska.

She was born in Edgar on Oct. 18, 1937, the daughter of Richard & Bertha (Borchardt) Syring. Wilma graduated from Edgar High School and the UW-Stevens Point.

She married Robert Hamann on Dec. 27, 1958, and joined him in Alaska in June of 1959. Wilma taught elementary education in Anchorage and Eagle River for 20 years, retiring in 1981. After retiring she worked with Bob at Hamann Construction until his death, and as an election worker for the municipality of Anchorage.

She is survived by a son, Robert (Kris) Hamann; a daughter, Carol (Rich) Cartier; and three grandchildren, Eric and Mikel Thompson and Tayler Cartier.

She is also survived by sisters, Margaret Ledbetter, Hazel Wagner, Lucille Felzkowski, Ruth (Wilfred) Hall, Nancy Thompson and Mary Ohrmundt; and brothers, LeRoy (Pat) Syring and Donald (Janet) Syring.

A funeral service was held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Chugiak on Jan. 14, 2017.
