Schmidt, Luellyn Cecelia (7 JUN 1969)

St. Bernard's Church, Thorp, was the scene for the marriage of Miss Luellyn Cecelia Schmidt and Richard Wickerschiem on Saturday, June 7th, 1969. Rev. Francis Brockman performed the 12 noon nuptial Mass and double ring ceremony. Jack Thornton of Marshfield played the coronet before the Mass and during the ceremony. During the Mass he played "Somewhere My Love" and "More." Marcy Badzinski sang "Ave Maria" and "The Wedding Song."

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. George F. Schmidt , Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wickershiem of Marshfield.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length empire style gown of Alencon lace and organza. A ruffle framed the elbow length sleeves and neckline. Her veil was a lace bordered Madonna Mantilla sweeping into a chapel train, and she carried a bouquet of Eucharist lilies and stephanotis.

Mrs. William Kowieski, a friend of the bride, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were: Mrs. Gordon Schmidt, sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Ronald Wickershiem, sister-in-law of the groom. They wore floor length dresses of chiffon in aqua, fashioned with bishop sleeves and high neckline, accented by Venice lace, and carried bouquets of daisies.

Sandra Lukowski, niece of the bride, was flower girl.

James Burk, friend of the groom, was best man, and groomsmen were Gordon Schmidt and Ronald Wickershiem, Ushers were Joe Tasse and Tony Welgos.

A reception for 225 guests was held at the American Legion Hall, Thorp, followed by dinner at 4:30, and dancing from 8 to 12, with music by the Goldtones of Stanley.

The bride is a 1965 graduate of Thorp High School and a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Marshfield, where she is employed as a registered nurse. The groom is a 1965 graduate of Columbus High of Marshfield and is presently attending Eau Claire State, majoring in business.

After a honeymoon along the east coast of Florida and the Bahama Islands, they will reside at 212 N. Walnut, Marshfield.
