Business associates and residents of the trading area were and will be surprised to learn of the announced plans to liquidate Griebenow Company, the city's (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) oldest business, having served the trade area 65 years, since 1903.

Richard Hughes, manager of the firm said yesterday, "The business is being liquidated with a huge sale getting underway early next week, and disposal of all stock is scheduled by the end of the year.

"The plumbing and heating departments will be retained and operated as usual," he said.

"There has been no disposition of the store building and I don't know what to say in this regard."

He hinted that after the liquidation of Griebenow Company, there might be an announcement forthcoming in the new year.
