Lobacz, Walter W. – SP/4 (21 MAY 1948 – 18 FEB 1970)

SP/4 Walter W. Lobacz, 21, died in Augsburg, Germany on February 18, 1970 after being crushed by heavy machinery while serving in the U.S. Army as a tank driver.

Funeral services were held at St. Stanislaus Church, Lublin, on Wednesday, February 25, 1970. Father Casimir Paul officiated at the eleven a.m. service, with burial being made in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Lublin (Taylor Co., Wis.). Pallbearers were Military Soldiers, Burial Detail, Ft. Sheridan, Ill. Military Escorts were: Sgt John Ballard and Sgt. Joseph Soulier.

Walter was born May 31, 1948 at Chicago, Ill. He lived around Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) for 17 years, one year at Thorp and three years prior to being in service at Milwaukee. He was married on February 1, 1969 to Barbara Ann Sebunia at St. Stanislaus Church, Lublin.

Surviving are his wife Barbara Ann Lobacz, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Lobacz; five sisters, (Georgia) Mrs. Tom Misfeldt, (Sue) Mrs. Robert W. Elkings, Carol, Barbara and Debra; two grandmothers, Grandma Turenne and Grandma Lobacz.

Out of towners who attended the funeral were from: Chicago, Ill., Milwaukee, Wis., St. Paul, Minn., Zion, Ill., Rapid City, South Dakota, Arkansas, Eau Claire, New York, Madison, Gilman, Boyd, Stanley, Owen, Greenwood, Withee and Hannibal.
