Zepplin, Ruth L. (23 NOV 1921 – 19 SEP 2017)

RUTH L. ZEPPLIN, age 95, of Loyal, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 19, 2017 at Wells Nature View in Marshfield. A memorial service for Ruth will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Loyal United Methodist Church, with Rev. Patsy Roe officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, in Marshfield, at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30am until time of service.

Ruth Louise Bloy was born on November 23, 1921 in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Albert and Esther (Grambsch) Bloy. She was raised and received her education in Marshfield, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1939. After completing high school, Ruth went to work at the Marshfield News-Herald. She was united in marriage to Byron B. Zepplin on August 14, 1946 at Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church in Marshfield. They moved to Loyal on August 30, 1947 where her husband was working at Grambsch Gas and Electric. They purchased the gas business from Clyde Grambsch in 1954 and later purchased the furniture business from Carl Myre, in 1958. Ruth was the buyer and bookkeeper for the store and raised their three children. In 1996, they sold the business to their son, Brad. She continued to do the books for the business until 2016.

She has many interest, but especially loved spending time at the Mead Lake with her family, watching old movies, traveling, playing solitaire, crossword puzzles, sudoku puzzles, and was an avid Packer and Badger fan.

Ruth was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, was the choir director and church organist for many years. She was also a member of the Women's Study Club until it disbanded, a member of the Red Hat Society, was a Girl Scouts Den Mother, was active on the Chamber of Commerce, and was named Citizen of the Year in 2007.

She will be dearly missed by her three children: Alana (Mike) Ziaya of Marshfield, Andrea (Rob) Hovick of Marshfield, Brad (Lisa) of Loyal; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister: Jeanette McCormick of Fond Du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Byron. on May 19, 2002; and one brother: Dr. James Bloy.
