Robert Rueth, Route 1, Loyal, has started an excavating business and has purchased all of the equipment formerly owned by Oscar Fricke, Loyal.

A former Land O’ Lakes employee, Rueth has been involved in this type of work for two years. He said he is currently operating the business on his own, but plans to hire additional help when he becomes established.

Rueth purchased backhoes, an impactor for breaking concrete or frost, and a gravel truck. He said he has the equipment to dig basements, footings, manure pits, water lines, and is ready to do all types of commercial excavating.

Rueth and his wife, Marie, have an 18-month old son, Kevin.

Margaret Lillian Dolle, Route 3, Greenwood, and William Thomas Briski, Route 2, Greenwood, were married by Father Robert Houston at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, on Saturday, August 18, 1979 at 2 p.m.

Parents of the couple are Kenneth and Mary J. Dolle, Route 3, Greenwood and Frank L. Briski, Route 2, Greenwood.

Margie Thomas was the soloist and Cindy Scheuerman played the organ.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was seen in an empire style gown of sheer nylon organza trimmed with Chantilly lace and sequins with a high neckline, bishop sleeves and a detachable Watteau train. Her matching lace edged veil was in the cathedral length and she carried a bouquet of red roses, white carnations, ferns and baby’s breath.

Miss Lisa M. Gregorich of Eau Claire, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Linda Spencer of Owen, Miss Dawn Dolle of Greenwood, and Miss Jeannine Dolle of Greenwood.

They were attired in halter style dresses in print Dacron with matching cape baleras jackets in yellow and green. They carried bouquets of carnations, daisies and baby’s breath to match their dresses.

Attending the groom as best manwas Fred Hribar, Conroe, Texas. Groomsmen were Ally Hribar, Jr., Marshfield, Galen Liebzeit, Greenwood, and Frank Briski, Jr., Green Bay.

Larry Meyer, Unity and Tony Dolle, Greenwood, performed ushering duties.

A reception, dinner and dance were held at the American Legion Hall, Greenwood.

The new Mrs. Briski is a 1970 graduate of Greenwood High School and a graduate of Eau Claire Technical School in Secretarial Science. She is employed at the Loyal Greenhouse.

Mr. Briski is a 1970 graduate of Greenwood High School and a graduate in Auto Mechanics at Eau Claire Technical Institute. He owns the Loyal Greenhouse and half of the landscaping business.

Following a wedding trip to Colorado, the couple will be at home at 405 South Union Street, Loyal.

Five generations were represented when Mrs. Ruth Stowe, Abbotsford, celebrated her 85th birthday on August 26, 1979. Her great-great-granddaughter, Nichelle Nicole, Racine, daughter of Kenneth and Teresa (Vine) Tucker, her grandson, Jerome Vine, Racine, daughter, Clara Stowe Kane, Orfordville, round out the family circle. Mrs. Stowe has two sons, Harold of Asheville, N.C., Melvin, Abbotsford, and Lawrence, who died in World War II; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Other guests during the day were: Gary and Regine (Vine) Bollem, Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ehlert and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith, Owen; Mrs. Edna Peters and Miss Emily Lindberg Abbotsford.

On Saturday, August 18, 1979, at 1:30 p.m., Miss Barbara Ann Herdrich, 1407 N. Peach, Marshfield, became the bride of Edward C. Genett, Route 1, Box 148, Arpin. The Rev. Joseph Martinson performed the ceremony, and the singers were Jeff Harder and Laurie Zaborowski, who also played the guitar, and Jane Fischer on the organ.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Elaine Herdrich, Route 1, Greenwood, and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Roland S. Genett, Route 1, Box 148, Arpin.

Given in marriage by her brother, Kenneth Herdrich, the bride was seen in a chapel train gown of white nylon organza, trimmed with Venice lace, Queen Ann neckline, with empire bodice and a crystal pleating ruffle sweeping into chapel train veil. She wore a waltz length matching Venice lace trim Juliet headpiece. She carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses, min-white carnations, baby’s breath and white starburst mums.

Serving as maid of honor was Lora Straughan, Merritt Island, Florida, and the bridesmaid were Janet Wojcik, Gilman, Jean Opelt, Thorp, Anita Lyrenmann, Marshfield, and Michele Genett, Arpin. They wore maize colored crepe knit dresses, with empire waists, halter tops and accordion pleats with matching sheer capes. They carried nosegay style bouquets of yellow carnations, orange button mums, pom pom starburst and baby’s breath, and wore long satin streamer hairpieces with matching flowers from the bouquet.

Kevin McRedmond, Davis Ville, Rhode Island served as best man, and Tony Massa, Hazelton, Pennsylvania, Peter Opelt, Thorp, Randall Genett, Great Lakes, Illinois, and James Herdrich, Greenwood, were groomsmen. Tim Wojcik, Gilman and Dana Genett, Arpin, performed ushering duties.

A reception, dinner and dnce were held at the Labor Temple, Marshfield, with music by the Green Valley Dutchmen.

The bride is a 1976 graduate of Greenwood High School and is a bank teller at Tri-County State Bank of Marshfield. The groom graduated from Marshfield Senior High in 1972 and is employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Following a wedding trip through the eastern states, the couple will reside at 1407 N. Peach, Marshfield.

News: Granton – Grandparents of the Year (1979)

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Helm of the Village of Granton were named the winners in a contest held this past month in the Granton area to select the grandparents of the year. They were nominated by their granddaughter Heidi Helm of Chili. The contest was sponsored by the Granton FFA Alumni.

Sunday, September 9 is the second national grandparents’ day in American, and this is the day of the Granton Fall Festival parade. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Helm and their granddaughter, Heidi, will ride in a buggy pulled by a team of horses in the parade.

Louis Helm and Adelia Garbisch were married September 8, 1929 and farmed in the Town of Lynn until 1970, when they moved to the village of Granton. They have four sons, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The American Society of Hospital Pharmacists elected David A. Zilz, M.S. to serve as president of the Society for 1980-81. Zilz fills the office of president-elect immediately and will be installed as president of the Society at the 1980 annual meeting to be held April 19 – 24 in Washington, D.C. Zilz is Director of Pharmacy and Central Services at the University Hospital and Clinics, and is associate Clinical Professor at the University Of Wisconsin School Of Pharmacy at Madison.

Mr. Zilz is married to the former Mary Ann Haunschild, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Haunschild of Greenwood.

News: Clark Co. – Talent Contest Winners at the Fair (Aug 1979)

Third place in the Central Wisconsin Parade of Talent went to Gary Gluch and Lori Lindner, both of Loyal. The duo, winners of a $50 prize, were accompanied by Rita Stewart, Greenwood. Gary is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gluch, and Lori is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lindner.

A quartet from Neillsville known at the Barberettes won second place in the contest held during the Clark County Fair.

First prize was won by a group which included Lori Aumann, a Loyal High School Senior. The group is called The Music Makers. Other members of the group were from Neillsville, and included Bob Ross, Kim Makie and John Nagy.

Boushon, Darwin Joseph (22 October 1958 – 8 April 2024)


Darwin Joseph Boushon, 66, of Granton, passed away on April 8th, 2024.


Darwin was born to Robert and Elizabeth Boushon on October 22, 1958, in Marshfield, WI. He was a talented wrestler in his youth for Marshfield Senior High between 1972 and 1976. As well as a local arm-wrestling champ who competed in many competitions from 1977-1986 sponsored by Brown's Bar of Marshfield.


His favorite activities to pass the time were hunting with friends and family. But neither of those activities compared to the joy he had while spending time with his grandkids.


Darwin is survived by his children; Sarah Barron (Nick) and Austin Boushon (Daria). Four grandchildren; Jaxton Boushon, Ivan Barron, Enzo Barron, and Evelyn (Eevee) Boushon. Siblings; Dan Boushon (Pauline), Deb Rueth (Joe), and Doug Boushon. As well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.


A Memorial Service for Darwin will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI. Pastor Terry Marg will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Gesche Funeral Home.
